The   WrestlingTV’S   poll results for the best male and female wrestlers for 2019 are out. India’s first and only digital destination for the sport of wrestling   WrestlingTV.in   conducted poll to select the best wrestlers of 2019 in both male and female categories. The poll was launched on 15th December and for the first time fans got a chance to select the best performing wrestlers for India in 2019. More than 150,000 wrestling fans participated in the poll The empowered wrestling fans of the country participated in the poll in full flow. Bajrang Punia gets new sparring partner as training with Russian Viktor Rassadin starts

The biggest hope of the Indian wrestling for  Tokyo 2020 Olympics   Bajrang Punia  has started training in Sonepat with his new training partner. Punia has recovered from all his injuries and has started training in full flow. In order to prepare himself for the tougher challenges ahead, 2019 Khel Ratna award winner Punia has called on Russia’s Viktor Rassadin to be his sparring partner. Viktor is already in India and has began to spar with the Indian champion. Punia’s coach Shako Bentinidis confirmed the development to  WrestlingTV , “ Bajrang  needed some strong sparring partner and we zeroed down on Rassadin. He is very talented and strong wrestler, sparring with him will help Bajrang”. Russia Banned from global sports for 4 years over doping World Anti-Doping Agency  (WADA) has handed Russia a four-year ban from international Olympic movement and other major sports. The country thus is out of Tokyo Olympic Games next year, Winter Olympics and the 2020 FIFA World Cup finals to name a few unless it goes into appeal against the ban and the appeal were upheld. As a consequence, Russia as a State will not be able to field its athletes at the Olympics and the Continental Games. The Russian flag will not be hoisted at these events. However, the qualified athletes if they were able to prove their innocence can still participate in these events as individuals under the Olympic flag. If they were able to win a gold, Russian anthem will not be played during the medal ceremony. Gaurav, Anita wins, India creates unique record as all 14 wrestlers finished with 14 gold medals On the last day of the SAF wrestling competitions on Monday Indian wrestlers have created unique record. India wrestlers entered 14 categories (7 each in Men / Women) and all ended up with gold medals.  Gaurav Baliyan  in the 74kg and one Anita Sheoran in women’s 68kg won gold medals on Monday morning to keep the gold winning record of India intact. As per the rules of SAF Games, each country can enter maximum of 14 categories out of 20. Both  Gaurav  and Anita did not face any resistance from their opponents and won the gold medals with complete ease. 48 secs is what Anita took to to pin Sri-Lankan wrestler and won gold medal for India. Second celebration in Phogat household: A baby shower for Geeta The famed wrestling family Phogats are enjoying a season of celebrations. Close on the heels of Dangal girl  Babita Phogat ’s wedding with fellow wrestler Vivek Suhag, the family hosted a baby shower for the much decorated elder sister  Geeta Phogat . The 2010 Commonwealth Games medallists Geeta, the central character in the Aamir Khan block buster Dangal, is expecting her first baby. Geeta had tied the knot with the 2014 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist freestyle wrestler Pawan Kumar Saroha three years ago. Two of the youngest Phogat siblings, Reetu and Sangeeta, are seen in the baby shower pictures with the mom- and dad-to-be Geeta and Pawan.
