Watch the first episode of ‘Ritu’s World’ on Phogat’s MMA debut

Ritu Phogat is about to make her debut in the MMA world on 16th November in Beijing, China and OneFC has released the first episode of special video series on the Indian champion introducing her to the fans. The series is window to the life of Ritu Phogat fans as she embarks on her mixed martial arts journey. 24 year old Ritu who has U23 World Silver medal to her credit will be seen in action at the Age of Dragons at the Cadillac Arena where she will be fighting a Malaysian kickboxer Cindy Tiong. The D-DAY for Ritu’s debut will be headlined by Ilias Ennahachi who will defend his ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Championship against Chinese sensation Wang Wenfeng. Ritu is the third daughter of the legendary former wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat. ONE Championship: Age of Dragons takes place November 16, 2019 in Beijing, China.

Wrestling Coaches Course : Argentina hosts level 3 technical course for coaches

The Argentine Olympic Committee, with the support of Olympic Solidarity and in collaboration with the Argentine Wrestling Federation, hosted a Level II technical course for coaches October 17-21 in Buenos Aires. The course was conducted by UWW educators Filiberto DELGADO (CUB) and Raul TRUJILLO (CUB). Ravi Dahiya sets ’Gold Target’ for himself in Tokyo 2020

Tampere, Finland to host U23 world wrestling championships in 2020

The host for the 4th edition of the UWW Under23 World Wrestling Championships will be the Nordic country, Finland. The championships will be played between 23rd Nov to 29th Nov in a small lake city of Finland called Tampere.    Wrestling in Finland is one of the most followed sport and quite popular, especially the club wrestling. U23 World silver medallist Pooja sets her sight on Tokyo 2020, will try for quota place in 50kg

Pooja Gehlot showed her strength and talent at the just concluded U23 World Wrestling championships. 22 year old Pooja won a silver medal for India in the 53kg weight category. Young Pooja is now setting her sight on the Tokyo-2020 Olympics. But to make it to Tokyo, Pooja has to make one big shift. Pooja who is currently wrestling in the 53kg category and fellow senior Vinesh Phogat has already booked quota in the category at Nur-Sultan senior world championships. This is the reason Pooja will reduce her weight to compete in 50kg for a race to Tokyo. In an interview to WrestlingTV, Pooja confirmed the shift. “Vinesh has already qualified in 53kg and if I have to make it to Tokyo I need to compete in 50kg and I will do the same. I will try my best to book the quota place in the forthcoming qualifiers’’.

United World Wrestling Participates in 13th International Federation Forum

United World Wrestling participated in the 13th International Federation (IF) Forum, which took place Oct. 28-30 in Lausanne, Switzerland. The annual gathering brings together worldwide sporting businesses leaders, presidents, secretary generals and stakeholders to discuss the future of the athletes and sports. Nenad Lalovic, UWW President and IOC Executive Committee Member, attended the forum that focused on the athletes on a 360°C angle and discussed various topics related to the role and importance of the athletes. After welcome remarks from IOC President Thomas Bach, State Councilor Philippe Leuba and GAISF Sport Accord Raffaele Chiulli, former sprinter Jeanette Kwakye talked about inspiring young athletes and keeping athletes at the front and center of sports governance.
